This is an old authentic Yamut rug, handmade in Afghanistan in the 1960s. These are classic and very traditional oriental rugs which many other types of Persian rugs have copied the design. It is is very good condition with no damage or faded areas. The deep maroon/burgundy colour still maintains its lustre and soft pile texture.
These traditional rugs originate from the nomadic Yamut tribe in Turkmenistan. Yamut rugs are typically woven using the asymmetrical knot technique, also known as the Persian knot or Senneh knot. This knotting method results in a dense, sturdy pile that can withstand years of use. It also has a soft texture due to the quality wool used. Authentic Yamut rugs are highly sought after by collectors for their historical value and rarity, as the nomadic lifestyle of the Yamut tribe has become increasingly rare in modern times.
Due to the handmade nature of these rugs, some edges may not be straight.
IMPORTANT: Please note that the colours and shades may vary slightly due to the specific angle and lighting when photos are taken. This means that the carpet you receive may look slightly different from the picture. Additionally, carpets naturally have a "light" side and a "dark" side, which is determined by the orientation of the wool pile. This is a characteristic of carpets and should be taken into consideration when choosing a carpet for your space.
